Actually I was going with the relation between the two.
e.g. a doughnut and a ball. From the top they're both circles, that's the relation. There doesn't need to be anything else in the equation.
Plus when you get talking about variables they're still related to something.
every value for x is related to a corresponding value in y.
That's all I was saying.
