Firstly, I have absolutely no respect for McDowell and I think the railroading of this issue is a disgrace.
However, I am trying to look past this and even the motives for both the referendum and the timing of the referendum to judge the issue on its own merits.
So lets remove the motives from the argument.
Should any woman in the world be allowed to grant Irish citizenship to their child if they feel so inclinded? I don't think they should. I think a stronger commitment to the country should be a pre-requesite.
