My Review: The venue - if you call playing in a room not much bigger than a pool table, a venue. In fact I think the room actually does normally have a pool table. Might be better in this mode. Also, the pub is dirty and has no atmosphere. The audience - if you could call about 10 people an audience. Most of them looked like they would not qualify for admission to a mental hospital. They stood around the walls trying to leave enough room for the band. Anyone in the 'crowd' could have reached out and tuned the guitar, in fact I think one of the audience was actually in the band and had no room anywhere else. Also, thankfully the smoking ban has come into place because I would have got into serious trouble with the DS if I was stopped on the way home that night - "We can smell it off you sir!!!"....I'll say no more! The band - don't ask me what they were called. I could make better music on my own with a chainsaw. There is more music in a dog barking than was on display that night. At first I thought it was a joke but after a 'short' time I realised that these guys were actually serious. Serious idiots! To me music is everything and I have seen many many excellent musicians and bands in my time but to see the waste of good musical instruments that night, what a disgrace. Why not save the money and play cardboard boxes and elastic bands instead, probably have the same sound. If these guys are serious about getting into the music business, please learn to play/sing!!!!!! I will say one positive thing though, Castlebar is seriously lacking in music venues + original bands and anything is better than nothing (well nearly)!!!!! Good luck with the gig(s) at the weekend. I hope the night I turned up was an exception!
