Hadn't thought about it in the light of the e-Vote scandal.
It shows that Fianna Fail really do not have a clue about the Internet or electronic privacy. Minister Cullen called the computer experts LUDDITES - i.e. the ones who voiced some concerns about the security of the proposed system.
What would they say about this one? At least the idiot who 'programmed' the search can say "I was just doing my job" or maybe "I was only 23 and I wasn't in politics even".
The Gombeen men though that allowed the Mayo electoral register to go online deserve all the flack that I hope they get. Ignorance of technology is no excuse for ignoring the laws of land. But then laws of the land were always and us and them thing. Planning for them - not for us. Tax for them - not for us. No speeding for them - not for us. Jobs for us - not for them.
If they were caught speeding would they argue that they don't understand the workings of the internal combustion engine?
So for Fianna Fail to say that they don't understand the workings of the asp programme or ODBC connections that provides 50,000 names and addresses just like that is no excuse for a blatant disegard for people's privacy.
Roll on June 11th!
