hope you feel better, at least you can apoloise and i thank you for that! i have to tell you though that you are wrong about many of your assumptions, there is deep poverty here, and its not the persons fault, we are to easy going as a Nation, we will put up with any third rate service and just be glad about it, many people who had to leave Ireland to support their families by sending money back home or even leaving the place, as they come back they are the best ones to judge, and if you talk with them you will find that they know we can do better that we live in a rip off country, but go now to the many families on the estates of this land, and you will see poverty, the people are the salt of the earth, but as i found as i vistied them that poverty how ever its measured is the norm, yes a good few did well from the boom years but not all, i found it very humbling to be in homes where there was little food or furniture, kids badly dressed but a big welcome, these people are the ones that were forgot about and you dont have to look far, castlebar has a fair few of those, you say you dont need handouts? you do it yourself? well good for you, but dont put down those that cant, but as for health there are people dying here for lack of proper care, the health service ( if you can call it that ) is on a par with a third world counrty, people stuck on trollys, for days and weeks, wards closed down, but yes people put up with it, a health service run on lines that girls cant get abortions so in their thosands each year they leave for the Uk, education system dominated by the church ( why are not all schools in state hands and independent) go to most of the schools or ask the kids who go there in Castlebar, have they got proper toilets? changing rooms? do roofs leak? are they asked to pay up front for everything? them walk around the towns and what is the first thing you notice ?? people everywhere collecing outsides shops banks to keep essential services going, what a disgrace, charity is ok to supplement but i have been told if they did not have collections most things would come to a standstill, so as you see poverty is there just go and look, you wont find it in pubs? or in the fancy resturants? but in the homes of our people
