"we all know how expensive it is to get the most simple of plumbing, building or electrical work done"

There should be training courses for plumbers electricians and other trades where there are skill shortages. Im talking about REAL training and not just useless FAS schemes aimed at moving people temporairly off the unemployment figures without any real prospect of work at the end of it Anyone unemployed for more than three months should be eligable for such training why anyone unemployed for six months should have to explain why they havent gone for such training

And people who are on the dole and take up part time employment shouldnt have their benefits cut on a euro for euro basis but there should be some kind of sliding scale based on keeping a percentage of benefits so that they have an incentive to take up part time employment or start their own business so that they have the opportunity for their venture to take off and at the very least gain some valuable experience which may enable them to find fulltime work subsequently
