The Commission still holds the power. UK's attitude towards the EU constitution says more about UK then it does about the EU (rule Britannia nad all that). And while I have concerns about giving too much power to Brussels I think we need to step back and look at the big picture. Bringing Eastern Europe out from behind the Iron Curtain and into a democratic and free Europe is a great achievement. It gives a great opportunity to millions of people to improve their lives. And we should not forget that joining the EU had a huge positive impact on our country, economically, socially, and culturally. The future of course could be different but that's up to us. In general, I find that the most Eurosceptic people tend to be those who have never wandered much farther than the end of their own driveway. Get out and see the world. There's a lot more to it than you think.
