To be honest I don't think any country (except possibly the UK) is screaming to abandon the EU entirely. What is at issue is the amount of power we give to Brussels.

Debating and disagreeing over this issue is not a sign that we want to abandon the EU project entirely. It's a sign that we are actively engaged in what type of EU we want to have.

And by the way, the UK no longer makes up as significant part of our trade as it used to. The percentage of trade we have with the UK has been falling consistently since we joined the EU and opened ourselves to new markets.

We no longer have to live in the shadow of the UK and follow their lead.
