We are nowhere near our pledged percentage. The world is a smaller place now - Mayo was as far from Dublin or London during the 1840s famine as the Sudan is from Ireland now. Plus we have TV and radio coverage of just how bad it is rather than second hand accounts. But yet they/we don't care. Don't fool yourself into thinking that they would have handled our own famine any differently. We/They don't really care about our fellow human beings in Africa.
