Who decided on this type of scanner.? What criteria did they use.? Are their trained staff to operate the scanner in Castlebar.? If so, does a funding commintment exist to operate the scanner and pay the staff.? How will the availability of such a scanner fit in with the other services provided by the hospital.? Who decided that this would be the best use of the funds raised.? I must say that I have serious doubts about this type of local fund-raising. Greate intentions, and great efforts no doubt. But unless the provision of a scanner, any type of scanner, fits in with a proper diagnostic and treatment system, the whole thing may be a complete waste of money and effort.
