I can tell you from experience the following appear to be the prevailing costs as far as I can recollect

A "Basic" coffin requested €1550
A plot in a Mayo Co Co Graveyard €500
Undertaker and hearse hire €300
Embalming €80
Notice in National Paper €285
Notice on Local Radio €80
Gravediggers €300
Family Flowers €80
Refreshments (For visitors and after funeral) about €500 (Although to be honest the generosity of Irish neighbours in this regard is a blessing!)

Unfortunately it is one area that people aren't in a position or a state of mind (Nor likely to feel "right about" either) for shopping around or questioning the pricing - but that said I have to say the service by the undertaker was brilliant and most sympathetic and professional.
