Bail is not assigned as to whether the magistrate thinks you are guilty or not. It is purely a mechanism to guarantee your appearance at trial. Roy Keane is not a flight risk over this and if if he was it is perfectly normal to be released on his your own bail for this type of charge.
I agree that he should be presumed innocent and think that the media should refrain from reporting until and if he is found guilty.
