You should try to give 2 weeks notice. Some times it is not possible, due to the boss or job. They don't give any notice to lay you off. They all say, I hate to do this, but I have to lay you off. I always said, Ok, good by. No use even talking.

I would ask you new boss if it was okey to give your old boss 2 weeks notice. It would look good and then tell the old boss you were leaving in 2 weeks. This way you have the new job nailed down and if you are luckey, the old boss will fire you on the spot. If not, you have done the right thing, and you have the new job. The old boss can't say you were not fair.

I myself have just up and quit when I couldn't stand the boss's smart aleck son. No sense fighting family. It was a steady high paying job. He would not let me see the blueprint of a house that we were remodling. On the nest job, I was reading the blueprint of a coal fired electric power plant and at 3 times the pay. Good luck
