Lightning struck the RTE transmitters too over the past few days and both RTE 1 and Lyric FM radio have been off the air for various periods (usually quite short granted) following the strikes.

If a piece of space debris hits the Sky satellite (which is quite likely by all accounts) you could be without all the Sky channels for some extended period.
