If they are to detained indefinitely then they should only be held as POWs and treated according to the Geneva Convention. To do otherwise sets a dangerous precedent not least for the treatment of any US servicemen who may fall into enemy hands in the many military operations the US engages in. It also generates resentment at the hypocricy od double standards of a country which was very quick to criticise Iraq when it showed pictures of captured US personnel, in contravention of the Geneva convention.
