Councillors from the Caslebar area have carried out a lot of work in places like Ross, Crimlin, Parke, Bofeenaun, Turlough and Pontoon. Councillors who are off the scene for a number of years loose contact with the local people. I cannot see any of the new candidates making a breakthrough. There are 9000 votes in Castlebar and the candidates from the town will surely pick up a lot of them. Bofeenaun is quite a way from Castlebar.Johnny Devaney is a gentleman but will be up against it. Sitting councillors will be hard to beat. Castlebar is the centre of power and is where things happen. Like it or lump it, we look after our town.
