And surely your last point about having a choice of listening undermines the desire to put it off the air. If this were an old style communist state where all incoming electromagnetic radiation was jammed and we were left with only one radio station then you might be on to something - state controlled radio stations were always the first choice of coup d'etat forces - but in the meantime....
