Like a Hollywood movie in book form. I think the facts that it hints at are fascinating. However the book has nothing to do with these and doesn't really give you much informaiton about them. They're just devices to hang the (terrible) plot on. The plot is basically just a dressed-up car chase with a soap opera ending. If you're interested in finding out more about the history on which the book free rides on then you need to look elsewhere. You can't deny its popularity though. I've never seen so many people reading the same book on the public transport system, three or four a day for the last few months. I think there are 2 reasons for this. 1. Curiosity about the actual history that the book alludes to sucks them in. 2. The short chapters (there are over 100 in a book that's about 450 pages long, many shorter than a page) keep them turning the pages. you know it's rubbish but one more chapter can't hurt. It's only a page-and-a-half after all. It's a novel built for the attention span of the post-MTV generation.
