How ironic would that be . . . the dispossed back on the landlord's property after so many years . . .

Lord Lucans lands converted into a halting site !

You know it also makes an even bigger farce of the proposal by the nuns et a certain Castlebar autcioneer who lay down in front of a bulldozer all them years ago to protest at the bypass because they couldn't build the running track and olympic sized swimming pool on the lands that were to be purchased by CPO . . . don't remember them having a halting site as part of their alternative use proposals for the lands back then ;-)

Anyway I'm all for having more halting sites for our travelling community - but hey let's share them around - we'll have one in D4 for when they're up for concerts, etc., one in Galway city centre (for the arts festival and the races) and one in every major town in Mayo - yes you too Westport, it's not enough to have the local Pavee Point office in the town, you won't be winning the tidy town quite so often with a halting site parked on your back door - don't get me wrong I'm very proud of Westport and the effort that the locals have put into winning this award but it's a farce that Castlebar gets knocked back in both the Tidy Towns and this new top twenty litter hotspots thingy just 'cos we've allowed members of the travelling community to 'settle' on the sides of our roads.
