Getting passaengers to holiday destinations and shorts breaks in the UK is depriving the West of business according to a hotel owner I heard on radio recently . His remarks also suggested that people from the UK flying into Knock for the most part were staying with relatives therefore no demand for bed nights.
The big challenge is gettng visitors to the west(by all accounts 2004 was a disaster)and this takes more that just a airport. I think money going into a good road infrastuructue would be the better option and getting Irish visitors from the large eastern urban areas to visit so decent roads for a start.
