There was a health inspector there. They'de be more concerned with the hot food that was being sold I reckon. The 'sausages' they are selling are normally hung at room temperature - you're not talking fresh barcastle sausages here.

As for VAT in Ireland we don't have VAT on food.

For sure they would have had to negotiate the whole deal with the urban council - I can't imagine they did not pay for the privilege. I saw Johnny Mee (Urban and county councillor and ex bacon factory too) walking around the market and he didn't seem to be too perturbed.
