I think there were other more important factors. Kerry's momentum was clearly stopped in its tracks with the swift-boat propaganda, and despite winning all three debates, Kerry made some mistakes. Mentioning Dick Cheney's daughter as a lesbian was one. I think Kerry underplayed the fact that Bush was fighting the wrong war, while Iran and North Korea are developing WMD, Bush committed all his forces to the country that had none. The argument should have been hammered home that this has put America more at risk. Other factors are Fox News has increased its viewing figures 400% since the last election. Ultimately the victory was won in Florida and Ohio. Kerry polled well on the economy, so it was down to the war on terror and morality. I think if Kerry had been more consistant in his message from the start he could have inflicted more damage on Bush's handling of the war.
