In fairness to RTE their engineering dept did a lot of the early research and development into DAB and RDS (as part of the European Broadcasting union trials) the worlds first test of a DAB single frequency network was carried out in Dublin

Which makes it all the more suprising that they are so slow to adopt new technologies that they themselves played a leading role in developing

Although when they FINALLY do adopt them they usually roll them out across the country pretty quickly
