Another myth shattered! Or is it just playing with statistics by comparing donations against our GNP that pulls us down? Our Governmental donations are stingy - we're nowhere near the target of 0.7% of GNP according to the OECD but at 0.41% in 2003 we are certainly miles ahead of the USA (0.14%) and just ahead of the UK (0.34%) - figures from the www.OECD.org. If every country met its 0.7% obligation then an additional $114 billion dollars would flow into third world countries which would solve many problems. |
