i would hazard a guess and say i know more about the evolution of music than you do but the specific sub categories you mention are exactly that..sub categories..i.e something which already fits under a broader category..in my view the more you sub divide and attempt to adhere to or create a new "sub" category the more you are restricting the creativity of a band and as such the more you deny the rightful place of other influnces as these perhaps don't fit the category's critera. if you know so much about musical evolution please give me a defintion of the following..baroque,classical,soul,blues,r and b,rock and roll, rock, prog rock,post rock, post ironic rock, heavy metal, metal, grunge,hip hop, crunk, punk,punk rock,afro beat, pop, trip hop,jazz,acid jazz,techno,hard house, and answer this question do you know godspeedyoublackemperor!, a silver mt zion, do make say think, fly pan am,redneck manifesto, connect 4 orchestra, slint, tortoise, bonny prince billy, shellac, big black, fugazi, minor threat e.t.c e.t.c e.t.c. if youv'e not heard any of these bands you'd want to question what you think you know about music mate and go an get some music by any of the above artists and you will see where all your unoriginal metal bands stole their ideas..get a grip and get outta town and buy yousrelf some descent music
