Cathal McCarthy's controversial sculpture in the Ballindine was featured on RTE1's new radio programme about public art last Thursday - it's still available online. The presenter had asked people to ring in with their nominations for favourite or not so favourite piece of public art and a number of people nominated the Castlebar Artist's work in Ballindine. Quite an interesting story around the piece in memory of the man who founded the Disabled Drivers Association of Ireland. The other piece featured was the monument to the victims of the Monaghan bombing 1974. It made me want to go to Monaghan and have a look.
