I agree Hick, But There is still the use of good quality Neumann and akg mics and vintage valve outboard gear that will make the difference. This stuff is still expensive, plus anyone can buy protools or cubase but using it to produce a good quality recording is another matter.
Although Digital has taken off in most areas Analogue is still used in the top recording studios worldwide For example windmill lane in Dublin uses studer 2 inch tape machines 2 of giving them 48 track Abbey road in London the same so there is still an argument, It took u2 years to go digital and the still use an analogue otari MTR 90 For over Dubbing to give the warm sound
