Perhaps the invite lists are kept short to protect patients privacy and dignity !!

Its hard to hold official openings in hospitals and at the same time ensure that people who are using the servcies are not treated like goldfuish in a bowl.
Important to make such a significant event as moving from the old asylum into fantastic new facilities but this must be balanced with patient privacy / confidentiality.

In any event many of said councellors do little except criticise the hospital. Would be more constructive for Castlebar and indeed Mayo if they were to be more supportive and push for much neeeded services in a constructive manner, eg. Breast Screening, Urology, Child Psychiatry, Additional elderly medicine services, Stroke Care; Cornory Care Unit, Pain Clinic, Arthritis Service, Increased Diaysis Service.
How about a non political / cross party hospital support group !! Persistent negative publicity undermines public confidence. How about public reps highlighting some of the good work done by the MGH staff.
