I knew that one day, with commercial TV appealing to the “lowest-common-denominator” market, there would be a considerable “dumbing-down” of TV content. Alas, I feel that the day has arrived. Classics FM now only play Ibiza-style classical music with stupid house music beats added. Instructional programs like DIY channels now spend more and more time showing people rowing with their builders than anything that could be considered useful. The programming day seems to be made up of soaps and reality shows. If I wanted a reality show with stupid people, I’d look out the window. We get pin-up weather girls and tabloid TV news. It seems that there is nothing worth broadcasting about the world as the BBC make documentaries about
things that haven’t even happened, in the new sensationalist docu-drama craze. Movies are more style than substance, everything is disposable and all you need to do to get onto a chat-show is stuff 10lbs of silicone in your breasts.
