Check the files on the page linked to below. A lot of information on the actual day to day impact of the construction on the water quality plus noise, vibration, dust monitoring results at the site.

This continuous monitoring data was used by the fisheries board to halt proceedings last week following a flood according to the Irish Times during the week.

Seems to me that there is much more careful monitoring here than in any farm yard, slurry spreader, sewage works or septic tank in the county - which are all long-term polluters that nobody gives a hoot about. There are thousands of such polluting discharges that are not watched at all. At least here we know what damage is being done and it doesn't seem to be that severe - Friday's Irish Times report from the NWRFB suggests that no impact on fish has been recorded. Compared with the devestation wreaked in the Bellanaboy area over the past 30 years by various state agencies and private interests with no controls this is minuscule stuff.
