Orignal question - Contempt of Court really that bad - I think the answer is yes. We have a judicial system and when it is fully exhasted it has to be the end of it. If not where does it end.

I know people things there is degrees of right and wrong in this particular case but the system requires the ability of closure on a subject and regardless of the decision it has to be respected by both parties.

Contempt of court is a very serious offense.
