First i don't live in Mayo. Second i am sure that there must be weed killer that will not affect the water. Surely their must be some process or time when it can be applied to the water so as conditions will be perfect and the weeds will simply float to the shore.
If a few insects or fish die whatabout sure there is only Pike and dragon flies in the lake.
