That is not quite correct. They did have permission to undertake the work they were undertaking - which is why the injunction was given against the landowners. The work was perfectly legal but the landowners undertook to disobey the law and prevent the legal work. It took years of enquiries to get to the current stage where the gas can come ashore. Granted brown envelopes may have assisted matters but the M50 opened today too and there is much more cogent evidence there that corruption was involved in Jasonwaysetc.

There's not a road in Ireland that would have been built if we knew that 400 people a year would be killed each year over the past God knows how many years? The one-off house built on the N5 - like where people back out onto the main road into traffic - is a much more dangerous thing than a pipeline through which liquid gold is being pumped. The statistics on deaths prove it. 400 people killed each year an that's just in Ireland.

But how many people died in Ireland over the life of the Kinsale piepline? Doh! Zero!? How many worldwide? No oil company is going to allow their prescious liquid gold to go up in flames until they get paid for it.

For goodness sake get a bit of perspective - get real - the only way anything will happen to a high pressure gas pipe is if some idiot sabotages it. Imagine risking all that dosh by putting in a cheap pipe tha is going to burst and - as Jerry Cowley put it fry people. Ha! Nobody is frying it's just a pipe that is going to cut through the corner of some godforsaken bit of scrub in north mayo and the whole country goes apeshit.
