The law is the law and theres no grey areas - what about all the nitty gritty technicalities which add up to big grey areas. I thought the law was about Justice. There was a time the law said women couldn't vote, married women couldn't work outside the home, we must hand over our lands to greedy landlords,etc... heaven help us if nobody chanllenges the powers that be, of any particular time. What about fairness and peoples rights to protect themselves and their families. Thank God for people like the Corrib 5,an ability to think for oneself should be encouraged and applauded. In my view, the folk of North Mayo are being used as guinea pigs, Is it put up and shut up or have the courage to stand by ones convictions. Well done, for asking questions (we do live in a democratic society) and standing up to the bullyboy tactics engaged by oil companies. I imagine Shell would love to have more people who just nod there heads and go along with any old crap. Theres more than one way for Shell to achieve their main objective in this situation, let them consider their other options. I believe the facts of this case warrant further thought and investigation, If the people of North Mayo dont stand up for themselves, who will? |
