I remember my grandfather, who had a farm in Ballyheane, getting all us children together in the early 1970's to capture a Goose for the chop one summer when we were on school holidays. We were very young and once we managed to get the goose, and found out that it was for the chop we ran off with it until our grandfather promised not to kill it. It was so warm & soft we couldn’t let it be killed. Of course once we were gone home that evening he did the job anyway, but its something my kid's will probable never do.
