McHale Road street party and its cyber aftermath

Can someone explain this McHale Road and Counsellor Gurthrie thing?

As far as I can make out from the postings:

1. McHale road had a street party
2. No local politians were invited
3. People on the BB speculated whay none were invited
4. Counseller Gutherie got upset about this discussion, and the Connaught Telegraph printed an article noting his upset.

What happened next is unclear to me:

Was the site threatened with legal action?
If so, by whom? and what for?

Can anyone explain?
