The response time is poor all over - the gardai arrive long after the deed is done. If they were able to deal with the problem as you suggest there would be very few urban robberies but in reality the number of urban (especially Dublin) house robberies is much higher pro rata than that of rural houses. Check out insurance premia as hard proof - as country dwellers we even get a reduction on our house insurance for living in low crime rural areas.
