There was a time in the eighties when wearing hoodies was fashionable in Castlebar and in Ireland. I still have a few in my wardrobe and they are very comfortable casual and sportswear.

Just because they have become the fashion item of some criminals, I don't see that they should be outlawed as such, however most law abiding people will take the hood down if they are in a shop, simply because it would be too warm.

As for the Britfication of Ireland, the trend for criminals to wear hoodies came from America originally! Fashion trends these days tend to be global rather than national. People in Ireland are well able to choose if they want to follow a fashion trend or not! Don't see anyone for the UK shoving it down their throats!
