What a serious but fascinating debate this has been. It has caused much food for thought. Perhaps the European Parliament will legislate and ban all cribs from European hospitals, particularly in the maternity hospitals. Unbelievably, in the British Isles, it has long been the custom for mothers to delineate the sex of a child by wrapping it in either a blue or pink blanket before ensconcing it in the crib. Clearly, this is nothing short of sexism at its very worst! A practice that all mothers should be taught to particularly eschew for fear of confusing the child as to its eventual sexual orientation. It also gravely offends those of us who are more sensitive to the politically correct considerations at stake. I am therefore completely at loss to sufficiently express my total abhorrence that such practices continue to perpetuate in a modern day multi-cultural Society. Clearly, motherhood has been lagging behind for at least two thousand years and is in need of urgent regulation! |
