Posted by Radio Fan on January 13, 2006 at 22:51:21: After all the frequency changes and initial fuzziness the RTE radio signal is now total rubbish in Castlebar. It is a huge disimprovement on anything we have had here over the last 25 years. Rubbish. Even on the car radio it is pixelating - awful digital fades even on Main Street - you would think we were living in Longford where the RTE signal always fades when you drive through it. Now they are inflicting that on us here in Castlebar too. Why? So hows about a few more kilowatts of power on the transmitter there RTE transmission department? Or are you now treating us here in the West like eircom who can't be bothered to provide broadband to anyone who lives more than a mile from the centre? 20 Years ago even the signal from Clare, almost 100 miles away was sufficient to give a decent indoor signal. Now it barely limps down the mountainside from the mast up at Croaghmoyle. Why are we paying a licence? Do they think no one listens to radio any more? Who do we complain to?
