Radio Fan are you sure the preset buttons on your car radio are set for the correct frequencies and are not trying to pull in a signal from Achill or Cairnhill (a pretty common problem since the frequency swap) ?

There is no digital radio in most parts of Ireland

Main Street (or anywhere else whit lots of tall and/or long terraces of buildings) is the kind of place one is most likely to encounter fading and/or noise from badly designed computers etc
