It takes a long long time, but it gets done. Other use three or two peer reviews, but all (and I mean ALL) academic presses use the peer-review system or they wouldn't be taken seriously. I'm afraid you can believe or disbelieve it all you like. i am currently reading two books for peer-review. It is simply part of a normal academic job to read books to be in consideration for publication. I never said all academic books get four peer-reviews, i said that all respected academic presses use the peer review system for the books they publish. I never abused any mother who uses any prescribed drug - but we need to recognise that doctors are too eager to prescribe drugs and we are all too eager to demand them. This is also a well-documented phenomenon. I am getting at a much deeper issue, which would question the very reliability of the models for testing and analysing the results of studies which recommend such drugs in the first place. i would suggest you read the respected work of the renowed historian of science Thomas Kuhn about paradigm shifts in science. I am not one for accepting the validity of studies simply because they were carried out by men in white coats and then reviewed by their peers. I can apply critical intelligence to what i am being told.
