Just reading this thread that has been in progress over the weekend and tis shocking. So it's alright for the Minister to introduce a law 'As Gaeilge' to eliminate your privacy and my privacy? But it is also alright for the 'legal profession' to want to enhance privacy following court cases (particularly perhaps for politicians' or other important peoples' special right to privacy?).

Well I would like to make a contribution to this new privacy law. I want a special section in the proposed "Bill for Special Peoples Privacy" that prevents programmes like Bull Island and Scrap Saturday and Spitting Images being broadcast? It would also be forbidden to laugh at any politican's policies. We could assist poor politicos like those in Kilkenny getting so offended the other day and trying to stifle the hilarity around the city when the local paper laughs at them because they can't prevent a bookie shop opening on the street right opposite them. We could stop papers pointing out inconvenient facts like the number of auctioneers on the local councils that are actively participating in the planning process? Also of course a special section to prevent reporting on politicians that 'forgot' to mention certain 'donations'? Of course judges would no longer be allowed to use phrases like 'Corrupt Payments' too? We could stop Tribunals asking private questions - like "Where did you get your money?" or "Why did you not pay tax on that money?" Etc. Warranted of course on the basis that those tribunals are a complete waste of money and what would the people want to know about that kind of thing for anyway? Sure it's none of their business a person's tax affairs are their own private business?

So as I understand it our politicians are right now introducing the opposite law "The No Privacy for the Common People Bill" to make sure even your phone calls are not private, that your emails are not private while the important legal profession wants enhanced privacy for important people? Laws that make sure that nobody laughs at them when they do stupid things or spout ignorant racist garbage perhaps? And most importantly that no one makes fun of their policies or even laugh at their 'Oirish' accent when they try to slyly sneak a bit of legislation into the statute books?
