They always say that it takes someone who has an understanding of how difficult it is to learn to be a really good teacher. The super-bright who cop on to every new concept presented to them in a few seconds are not always the best to teach these concepts to a slow learner or to just an average student. The person to whom learning came with a bit of effort is often a better teacher than the super-genius.

So maybe likewise in the case of a minister for health. She has stated openly on public radio - and how much more public can you get than being interviewed by Marion Finucane - that she has great difficulty herself in losing weight and that her lifestyle isn't conducive to losing weight - her demanding job looking after some pretty serious issues does not give her the spare time to tackle the issue.

We had a sermon in the Church here the other day which appeared to extol(?) Condoleesa Rice as an example of fitness (and maybe even my allusion of prayer to God)- she trains every morning on her stationary bicycle (according to the Fox TV visibytes(TM) at least) presumably before she talks to Abu Graib and Guantanamo Bay and orders the soldiers to shout at Guantanamo Inmates, and before she flaunts minor details like the Geneva Convention before she condones soldiers and medics who are actually connecting feeding drips up to Guantanamo prisoners' testicles in order to prevent them from dying as they protest on a deliberate hunger strike.

Would you prefer a thin Condi comfortable with attaching feeding tubes to your testicles or a comfortably sincere Mary who just wants to get rid of those damned trolleys in the corridors?
