The thing is Sheena whilst we can all decry what madness religion has caused some people will actually take heed of this profile raising event. In desperate times people will pray for rain, for sun, for help, for redemption . . . I wish I could use such a crutch myself but I'm afraid the ways of the cynic are lonely when it comes to making a leap of faith. Of course the carnage will go on . . . but at least it'll stop for five mins when all those drivers are at mass or on the roads with the priest whilst the blessing is being performed. Personally I would think that if you're not actively involved in trying to stop the carnage yourself then don't knock the efforts of others - especially when it's of a voluntary nature. It's too easy to criticise - save it for the politicans and policemen.
