I want to stree the point that we are just as entitled to reform as the cities.

They have directly elected mayors in the UK US and many other countries and the number of "celebrity" mayors is very low. So i do not think we need fear that.

I think towns like Westport and Castlebar would be much better off with directly elected mayors because you would replace the officials with someone

A that you could fire
B that will have run on a stated vision for the town and with very specific policies.

The above are completely lacking under the current system.
