As to whether it's time to be worried, I think Israel's neighbours are well worried for a long time now having suffered some appalling behaviour at the hands of supposedly civilised country. It's not really surprising that they fight back given the tens of thousands of Arabs and Muslims slaughtered by Israel in the past 30 years. But then "numbers don't count" so one dead Lebanese baby is not equal to one dead Israeli baby? If you are the parent of one dead baby or the orphan of two dead parents killed by Israeli fired US weapons then numbers definitely don't count to you. So you are right that numbers don't count - Can a parent who loses four of their children in a bombing raid grieve four times as much as if just one baby had been slaughtered in its cot? Regardless of the numbers - whether you lost one child, four children or two parents though - you will definitely want some justice and retribution for your loss. And if there are literally hundreds of thousands of people affected directly like this having had family members salughtered indiscriminately at the hands of Israeli bombs it is simply nonsense to try to argue that the number doesn't count. Israel has created a very large problem in terms of the very large number of surviving relatives of dead children and loved ones. Those who lost family members to the Tsunami or even Hurricane Katrina may rail against God or the elements or against the slow pace of cleanup. In the case of Lebanon and Palestine and the Middle East region all around Israel though, their anger is not directed just at God or the weather. For the parents burying their daughter, it is quite clear who killed their baby daughter as she slept in her crib and didn't even hear the high-flying jet as it dropped a US-made bomb on their home. Multiply this scene by one thousand or by one hundred thousand and might you get a feel for what is good and what is evil. So I'm afraid numbers do matter. The current blood-lust approach to International affairs is merely building up a lot more antagonism and problems for the future.
