I think you will find that admitting the wrong commited against other nations is exactly what the German Government had to do for their former dictator's attempt at wiping out the Jews. (Only a few fanatics have any truck with Hitler after the war but nonetheless they had to atone - and they did much to their credit).

The fact that the Turkish government is still going to such extreme lengths to pretend that it never happened suggests that it is not as simple as 'admitting' that the Armenians were slaughtered in a Genocidal episode very similar to the German slaughter of the Jews. Even the posts here - scant evidence, etc. suggest that this attitude of denial is still rife. In any case The European Parliament have made such admission/reparation/atonement for the Genocide of one and a half million Armenians a condition of entry to the EU.
