I get both papers delivered weekly. Both I take with a pinch of salt, but at least you can see the ads in the Echo. It's brighter and more colourful that the Advertiser, which is dull and weighty.

I find such free papers good for looking up services, sales etc and for my money, these ads are always more easily found in the Echo. I don't think the Echo takes itself too seriously re journalism but gives you quick bite-sized bits of news and features which you can dip into while you browse.

The Advertiser, on the other hand, is really long winded and the news items can be stretched boring. If the journalists there are so proud of their skills, whay can't they get a job in a publication which people pay to read.
