Depending on the duration of your stay . . . you could always pick up an ould banger of a 2nd hand car on the cheap, this is what the great Pete McCarthy did whilst researching details for his Irish Blood, English Heart epic book called McCarthy's Bar, he got fed up paying the exorbitant fees for rental cars so purchased one instead.
